my favorite superhero (or the Geek in me speaks…)

Batmanhushtpb1thumb_1No, not Christian Bale…

The Idea of Batman…

His entire fictional being is so profound, Socrates would have made him a mind experiment for the armchair philosopher.

Ok,
so superhero costumes are silly. In dance class we called them tights
and leotards. Spandex for short. Tutus if they came with ruffled skirts
instead of the handy-dandy utility belt. But come on Ladies!…. He’s
very smart. He’s rich. He’s suave. And he’s lonely
… Don’t we all have a weak spot for the handsome loner in a bar?

He’s the only member of the Justice League who doesn’t have superpowers. Whatever skill he has, he earned.

Superman is cute too and all, but being the ulitmate wonderboy makes him a little too "Jock"
for me. Besides, his entire existence is like a mockery to the human
race. All other superheroes use their costumes to disguise themselves
and hide their human identity. Superman
IS his real identity. Clark Kent is the fraud. Doesn’t that just make us seem puny?…

The
Dark Knight is as human as can be. Like the phantom of the Opera who is
not a phantom at all but a disturbed individual with an aptitude for
music.

In one episode, he tried to dig up Wonder Woman from underneath a pile of wreckage with his bare hands when a building (was it a building? hmm… doesn’t matter...) collapsed over her, only to find she can lift the whole tonelada
with her super strength and come out of it unscathed. Futile was his
attempt, but his sincerity and the wounds he sustained from all that
scraping, in my opinion, entitles him to a sneak preview of what’s
behind the Wonderbra. (sa likod ng mga tala, kahit sulyap lang Darna! )

But on a more serious note,

..ahem…

He reminds me of that Pablo Neruda poem:

"I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul."

Naks! ginawan daw ba ng pilosopiya yung taong paniki!
