Kitchen Sets and Coffee Cups

Yesterday morning, I woke up early to find my baby girl playing with her new Dora kitchen.

It was a hand-me-down from her cousin Erika. She brought it home with her to Iloilo when she arrived from her long vacation in the states with her mom. I remember when Erika was brewing make-believe coffee for Chirstopher back when they still lived in Infante. She brought it all the way from Iloilo to Laloma so she can pass it down to her little cousin. Like an heirloom, better than jewelry, I'd say. :)

So yesterday morning I woke up early and found my baby girl busy stuffing her smaller toys into her new oven and then pulling them out again to transfer them to the sink. She was too busy, she was ignoring me.

So then I simply sat next to her decidedly enjoying the scene unfolding before me, slightly dejected that the scene was indeed unfolding before me without my help. At all. It struck me that my baby was starting to explore her world all on her own. She's starting to walk without support and the first thing that entered my mind is that she's starting to learn to walk away from me. Too soon, she'll realize she doesn't need me at all... Too soon.

So to help me forget early morning woes, I called Manang B for coffee.

And Promise turns to me from her Dora Kitchen and hands me a toy coffee cup with a most adoring smile and says, "TAK!"

And I know for a fact that I would never get used to this kind of happiness...:)

Good Morning WORLD! I don't care what people say, it's GREAT being a Mommy!

TAK!

:)
